The founding story, told by someone who was there.
Polly is a real doll. She arrived in Boston in 1773 on the Dartmouth, the ship whose tea went into the harbor, and she is still on display at Revolutionary Spaces. In the play she tells her own story: the Tea Party, Bunker Hill, the cannons on Dorchester Heights, and the Declaration of Independence read aloud to the town.
Your students meet the Revolution at their own eye level, in the meeting house where colonists argued about the tea. Every scene is a real event with a real date, so what they see on stage connects to what they study in class.
In partnership with
Revolutionary Spaces cares for Old South Meeting House and the Old State House, and looks after the original Polly doll, on display in Boston.
